Naguib Surur

-Born June 1932.
-Graduated from the Institute of Acting in 1956.
-Left Egypt in 1958 on a state mission to Russia to obtain a Ph.D. in drama and returned in 1964.
-His directorial debut upon return was Chekov's Cherry Orchard, Pocket Theatre, 1964.
-Played the role of Agamemnon in Karam Metawi's directorial debut of Aeschylus' Agamemnonin 1966.
-Taught at the Academy of Theatrical Arts until the mid-1970s when he began to suffer from recurring bouts of severe depression.
-Died on 24 October 1978.
